Violist Julia Clancy is a regular member of the West Eastern Divan Orchestra and formerly played with the Berlin Staatskapelle under Daniel Barenboim. She formerly worked with the Boulez Ensemble, the Konzerthaus Chamber Orchestra, the Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, and the Gstaad Festival Orchestra.

As a teacher, Ms. Clancy has been teaching violin, viola, and music theory for over 15 years. She has taught or assisted in teaching music theory, history, writing, and viola performance at both the Cleveland Institute of Music and Yale School of Music. She is currently an associate faculty member of the Encore Chamber Music Institute and formerly taught at the Moabit Musikschule in Berlin. She enjoys working with students of all levels and backgrounds and balances technical work with finding music that excites each student.

Her early musical education began at the Juilliard Pre-College program. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA degree in medical anthropology from Case Western Reserve University and with a BM with honors from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Julia received her MM and is currently pursuing her DMA from the Yale School of Music.
