ABOUT THE TEACHER
PROFESSIONAL BIO
Jason Berman is an NYC based musician with over 20 years of teaching experience. His qualifications include a Masters of Music degree in Jazz Performance from Five Towns College, a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Studies from Southern Illinois University, a Certificate of Completion from Berklee College of Music, Full Scholarship. He has studied and performed professionally in many styles of music including jazz, classical, rock, metal, blues, funk, and hip hop. He has trained with some of the best musicians in the world including Vic Juris, Dave Stryker, Fareed Haque, Wayne Krantz, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Peter Rogine, and Dr. Felipe Salles.
Jason is the founder and primary composer of jazz/hip hop band Sibling as well as a former member of heavy metal band Hellshot. He also performs as a jazz guitarist for numerous groups and ensembles in and around New York City. He has played with or opened for Talib Kweli, Fishbone, Styles P, Denzil Porter, Shinobi Ninja, Quantum Split, and Kyla Moscovich.
One of his teaching strengths is his ability to connect with students and cater lessons to each individual's needs and aspirations. He has taught all ages and all levels of playing. Whether a complete beginner or a seasoned guitarist looking to expand their playing, Jason can help you become a better musician.
