ABOUT THE TEACHER

PROFESSIONAL BIO

Ian Fales is a double bassist and educator based in New York City devoted to inspiring new musicians through thoughtful technical training of both classical and more contemporary repertoire. Ian earned his undergraduate degree from New York University, where he double majored in Double Bass Performance and International Relations while minoring in French. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree from Mannes at The New School.

Ian’s work has led him to be a musical guest for the ADCA Orchestra, Opera America, and Loro Piana, and he’s participated in a number of festivals, intensives, and courses, including Music Academy International, the 44th Nordic-German Orchestra Week, Mike Block String Camp, the Frost School of Music’s summer intensive, and most recently, zFestival, a virtual music festival created to bring together musicians and composers to create new works in a virtual space.
